Directs her service towards early detection and prevention of breast cancer, she teaches the method of self examination; prepares the patient for examination by consultant; gives health education to patient and assists during investigational procedures.

th? game su500Manages patients with Gastrointestinal/ Genitourinary Stoma and varied wounds. The enterostomal nurse attends patients on OPD basis and visit the patients in IPD; provides necessary guidance, health education, counseling and psychological support to patient and relatives in relation to stoma care; gives advice on the choice and use of appliances-;gives appointments for stoma clinic services; provides necessary guidance to other nurses as and when required; arranges for items required for surgery whenever required and participates in clinical trials of products related to stoma care and research projects.

The Home Care Nurse visits and provides care to patients at home. She coordinates for appointment for home care services; visits the patient and provides home care service; provides necessary guidance, health education, counseling and psychological support to patient and relatives whenever required.
- Infection Control Nurse

Enhances and maintains standards of infection control. She works as a member of the Infection Control Committee; carries out reporting of Communicable Diseases department; does the recording and follow-up of needle stick injury; contributes towards regularly updating of new infection control practices. She conducts "Spot Surveillance" for waste disposal, Antibiotic prophylaxis in OT. She is also responsible for setting/updating and implementing nursing protocols for disinfection, isolation, practice of invasive procedures and establishing/ maintaining asepsis when/where needed.

At P. D. Hinduja Hospital, we have developed an approach which integrates all the cancer treatment modalities including palliative care. The Oncology team is not only actively involved in treatment of cancer but also cares for the patient with spiritual and holistic attitude. Oncology Nurses are specialized in providing care to cancer patients through administration of chemotherapy, assisting in radiation therapy, cancer pain management, day care facilitation, teaching the use of home pump, encouraging patient to use relaxation methods etc.

Assesses and alleviates pain of patients post operatively. The Pain Management nurse assists to start Patient Control Analgesia (PCA) service for a patient; assesses patients on PCA regularly and maintain appropriate records; coordinates for reference of patient for pain management; visits the patients with anesthetists and conducts teaching sessions for nurses.

The Podiatric nurses perform complex assessments using state-of-the art diagnostic equipment which include sensitometers, monofilament testing, infrared thermometers and portable doppler. They are keen in timely detection of high risk foot through routine examination and recognizing risk factors for ulceration and amputation. They provide multidisciplinary foot care for patients with acute diabetic foot problems e.g. diabetic foot ulcers due to neuropathy or poor circulation, Charcot osteoarthropathy and painful neuropathies. They aid in specialist treatments including ulcer debridement, wound dressings and assisting in total contact casting. They provide education to patients and the caregivers about diabetes and its effect on feet. The Podiatric nurses, also provide information about footwear specifications after assessment of the foot. At our one of its kind "Diabetic Foot Clinic", these nurses are able to conduct podiatric nursing assessment and therapy in a specifically designed foot clinic situated in the OP complex. They coordinate both IP and OP patients, who may access the clinic directly or through their respective consultant.
